Life is never predictable especially with animals. Emergencies can happen in a split second and many of us are far from informed as to what to do in these instances. OVFA wants you to be prepared. Below is a list of essential phone numbers to keep handy and websites for everything from natural disaster preparedness tips, to broken bones and CPR, to what to do if your pet gets skunked. If you have any questions or concerns that are not covered here or have tips you would like to add, please contact us at sh@ourvoicesforanimals.org

You never know when you will be driving or walking down the street or even just open your front door and come across an animal in need. I ve lost count of how many strays and injured animals I've come across doing just that. So I have complied a personal list of phone numbers in my cell phone so that I'm always prepared for any situation I may be presented with and you should do the same. What you need:

Wildlife Center: In case of orphaned, injured, struck by a car, or abused wildlife

Local Humane Society: In case of stray, injured, or abandoned domestic animals and to report any abuse you come across.

The Local Police: To report any abuse you come across such as dog fighting rings, cock fighting rings and the more extreme cases of abuse

Humane societies of each county you pass through often: In case of stray, injured, or abandoned domestic animals and to report any abuse you come across.

24 hour emergency vet: In case of after hours injuries to animals

Many people have no idea where to find the numbers they need, but its as simple as calling your local Humane Society. They will be able to provide you with the information you need to compile a list.
